Call for Walking

To mark the twenty-year anniversary of defecting Poland in Florence, Italy (1988), and the Fall of the Berlin Wall, I will make a special walking performance artwork, “Performing Exile,” where everybody is welcome to join me. Most walks would take place during the day, however, I would like to perform a few night walks as well. We could walk with our eyes closed, backwards, crawling, walking very slowly, standing still, walking with special objects, artworks etc.

Ich bin eine in Polen geborene und in Kanada ausgebildete Künstlerin. Seit Oktober 2007 bin ich in Berlin, um meine künstlerische Arbeit und Forschung zur Perfomance-Kunst der Gegenwart am ICI Institute for Cultural Inquiry Berlin weiterzuführen (http://www.ici-berlin.org). Vor zwanzig Jahren verließ ich Polen auf inoffiziellem Weg und zog nach Florenz. Aus Anlass dieses Jahrestags möchte ich ein besonderes Performance-Projekt realisieren. Es heißt „Performing Exile“ und soll im Juli und August 2008 auf der Strecke entlang der früheren Berliner Mauer stattfinden. Ich möchte Sie hiermit gerne einladen, daran teilzunehmen.
